Our thanks to everyone who supported this year's Christmas Concert. We were delighted to welcome our special guests, the RGS Trad Jazz Band - a really talented group of musicians, just starting out on their musical journey, but already able to tackle the standards with confidence and style. Strong rhythm section, well-balanced ensemble playing and great solos. Impossible not to tap your feet and smile, from start to finish - what's not to like?
This year, our chosen charity was Alzheimer's Society. Some of our members also met up to sing carols at High Wycombe Railways Station the following Friday to support Rennie Grove Hospice Care. Two very worthy causes - thank you to everyone who contributed to our fundraising efforts.
The choir is putting up its collective feet over the Christmas / New Year period, and we wish a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all those who have been with us in any capacity in our 2018 journey through music: to our audiences - of course - and our guests; to our Musical Director David Cooke, our accompanist Michael McMillan, our soloists, and everyone who has given time and energy behind the scenes. Thank you, one and all.
And of course, our special thanks and best wishes go to Sacha Tomkins, who has been our assistant musical director for the last few years (and soprano/soloist for many years before that), and who is leaving us now on the next stage of her own musical journey.
2019 is just around the corner, with a new season of music planned. Our Easter Concert will feature Fauré's Requiem. If you're a singer, and that's a piece you've always wanted to tackle, get in touch - you'll be welcome. Rehearsals start 11th January 2019.
